Spotlight: Pacific Holiday
Established in 2019, Pacific Holiday is a proudly woman-owned consignment boutique in the Beaumont District in Portland. Built on a community of consignors and customers who appreciate beauty, inspiration, boutique brands and independent designers, the shop has been spotlighted by Portland Monthly, Hello Rose City! on KGW, Hollywood Star News, and Travel Portland.
“We recognize the impact of fashion on the environment. Consideration of climate change, sustainability, and reducing waste are part of the business model,” shared Allyson, the founder and owner of Pacific Holiday. In her former life, she dressed musicians and actors with Film Fashion PR, worked for couture designer Monique Lhuillier, and did wardrobe on photo shoots for such clients ranging from Lands End to the Four Seasons Hualalai. Now she enjoys matching clothes for her customers.
What is your favorite part about owning a small business?
Allyson: I love getting to know our customers, their families, their lifestyles, and their personalities.
What role does the community play in your business?
Allyson: The Portland consignment community is special. We have several great shops and we share customers. Our community is key.
What's your advice for someone who wants to start or run their own small business?
Allyson: Small business is not for the faint of heart. You may have to fight for your small business through challenges such as a global pandemic, weather-related closures, political issues, and more. You are responsible for everything from payroll to light fixtures. If you are like me, you will always be thinking about how to improve your small business.
